Political Earth

Political Earth

Political Earth is a short film ‘mockumentary’ created by Scooter Downey for a contest being held on Infowars. We were brought on board to help visually bring this concept to life.

The overall style of Political Earth has been something completely new to us. Nearly all of the visuals that you see in the film are of real photos. The animation style is similar to that of a Monty Python intro, or South Park. To say the least, it has been a very interesting project to work on.

Stay True T-Shirt & Print Design Kickstarter Project

Brent Galloway recently launched a kickstarter campaign that will be the next big step in his design career, which is getting his own product into the hands of others.

Titled ‘Stay True’, the goal of the t-shirt and print designs are to make a bold and positive statement: Stay true to who you are. “No matter your beliefs, no matter your lifestyle, you stay true to yourself and you should be proud of it,” says Brent on his kickstarter page. We at CJC Entertainment CJC Animation couldn’t agree more, as staying true to ourselves is something that we’ve had to fight for many times.

Check out the kickstarter page here and back the project if you can. Or just simply spread this word!

Disney’s Paperman Short Film

The official YouTube channel of Disney recently posted the trailer of their Oscar-Nominated short, Paperman. The six minute short has been capturing the attention of animation fans since its June 2012 premiere at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, and continues to astonish us today.

What really sets Paperman apart is the use of Disney’s new in-house technology called Meander, which allows animators to draw directly on top of the CGI. This revolutionary technique (called ‘final line advection’) completely blends digital animation and hand drawn together seamlessly, which is an absolutely amazing feat!

In a behind-the-scenes series titled, ‘Paperclip’ (also available on Disney’s YouTube channel), director John Kahrs explains that his inspiration for the visual style came from the rough character drawings created during preproduction of Paperman. He wanted to somehow retain that natural hand-drawn artwork, which is something that’s notorious for getting lost during the transition to 3D animation. Thanks to the Meander technology, Paperman achieved this look beautifully, and has now been nominated for ‘Best Animated Short Film’ at this year’s Oscars, which is an honor in itself!

Newgrounds Swivel

For many years, one of our biggest challenges was the process of getting our animations from Flash to a high quality video format. We’ve tried (and purchased) many different converters, but none of them can compare to Newgrounds’ Swivel. The best part? Swivel is absolutely free!

It only took a few minutes with Swivel to realize that it was by far the best converter that we have ever used. Swivel allows the conversion of SWF files containing not only ActionScript 2 coding, but also ActionScript 3. So, every version of VCAM worked flawlessly. No dropped frames, fast conversion, and absolutely perfect!

If you’re a Flash animator, then you should definitely check out Swivel and give it a download!
